On December 3, the Kansas City College and Career Attainment Network (KCCAN) officially unveiled its Community Strategic Plan at the KCCAN Community Summit. This plan represents a shared roadmap to increase postsecondary attainment and economic mobility across the Kansas City metro.
KCCAN’s goal is ambitious: raise postsecondary attainment rates among students from Kansas City’s low-income high schools from 13% to 23% by 2030.
Developed through a collaborative process involving more than 75 stakeholders from 40+ organizations, the plan outlines a clear Theory of Action and three ultimate outcomes:
- Career-Connected Learning
- Postsecondary Enrollment
- Postsecondary Completion
Workgroups began meeting immediately after the summit to prioritize strategies for 2026.

The first initiative of the new KCCAN is the KCCAN Advising Program which embeds dedicated college and career advisors in each of the six Kansas City Public Schools high schools. MOCAN is pleased to partner with KCPS on this important work. Learn more in this video.
