Interim Commissioner

Leroy Wade was appointed the Interim Commissioner of Higher Education by the Coordinating Board for Higher Education effective July 5, 2022. He previously served in this role in 2016. Mr. Wade has served as Deputy Commissioner for the Missouri Department of Higher Education (2013 and 2016) and Assistant Commissioner for Financial Assistance, Outreach, and Proprietary School Certification (2007). Leroy has been a member of the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development staff since its formation in 2019 and the Department of Higher Education staff since 1986. Professional activities include serving on the Executive Committee of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements, Board of Directors of the Missouri Scholarship and Loan Foundation, Board of Directors of the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel, and the Board of Directors of Kids Chance of Missouri. He earned his Master of Public Administration from the University of Missouri – Columbia and his B.A. in Political Science from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri
