Deallon Walton
Deallon Walton is among the first team of KCCAN College and Career Advisors and will be working with students and families at Southeast High School. Deallon was a recruiter at Northwest Missouri State University and Quarterback coach. While in college, Deallon won two national championships coaching. His area of recruiting for Northwest was St. Louis, Kansas City, and Chicago. Deallon planned on staying in coaching to coach but due to family circumstances, Deallon changed his path to help kids. He was hired by Independence School District (ISD) as a paraeducator and a football coach. After a year, he was moved to Nowlin Middle School as a building sub, while taking classes at the University of Central Missouri for his master’s in counseling with an emphasis in school counseling. During this time, Deallon was able to finish his degree and began at Truman High School as a school counselor. Having worked with over 4,000 students in just four years, Deallon was able to build trusted relationships, while also increasing graduation rate from 89% to 98% for his caseload. Deallon was able to increase student involvement by starting the Step Team, Black Student Union and being a sponsor for the sophomore class student council during his time at ISD.
