The Professional Development Institute (PDI) is a free, trusted training program that equips Missouri’s high school counselors and community-based college and career advisers with practical resources to guide students toward success after high school.
Our interactive workshops – offered both virtually and in person – feature state and national experts and focus on tools counselors can immediately use in schools and community organizations. These sessions provide opportunities to ask questions and connect with peers facing similar challenges. More than half of counselors in Missouri public schools participate in PDI each year.
Through the PDI Portal, participants can access workshop materials and presentations. Counselors who attend PDI workshops can register for the portal to continue learning and applying best practices.
In partnership with rootEd Missouri, MOCAN offers free career advising resources through the portal, including career pathway maps and advising guides designed to help students explore and plan for their futures. These 20 career pathways maps are an invaluable resource for students who are exploring career pathways that may not require a college degree but some form of training or apprenticeship after high school.
