SUMMARY:PEN: Postsecondary Value Commission Report - IHEP (virtual)
DESCRIPTION:For Missouri students and students across America\, postsecondary education is one of the most significant investments they will ever make. While there is overwhelming evidence that college is “worth it”\, student experiences vary widely\, particularly for Black\, Indigenous\, Latinx and People of Color (BILPOC) and students from low-income backgrounds. Recent surveys indicate students are increasingly questioning the return on the investment of their time and money in postsecondary education. What can institutions\, policymakers and college access/success professionals do to center equitable value in postsecondary education\, so it remains the proven path to a better living and better life? \nWe’ll be joined by Eleanor Eckerson Peters\, Associate Director of Research and Policy\, at the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP). IHEP\, along with staff from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation\, co-authored Equitable Value: Promoting Economic Mobility and Social Justice through Postsecondary Education\, the 2020 report stemming from the work of the national Postsecondary Value Commission. \nAt the workshop:\n• Learn about the Postsecondary Value Commission report and action agenda for increasing access\, affordability\, and success for BILPOC students and students from low-income backgrounds.\n• Discuss with colleagues the implications for Missouri students and the organizations and colleges that support them. \nREGISTER FOR MEETING HERE
